Great Night for an Interview in Second Life

leave a comment »

Last night you missed the best interview with a politician I have ever heard (podcast available HERE).  Paula Banks-Dahlke was the guest of the East Coast Conservative Show that is broadcast live into Second Life each Sunday at 5:30pm PST.  Hosts Hatton, who was live in Second Life and New York, and Ken, live in Florida, had an hour long interview with Paula Banks-Dahlke who is a candidate for New York State Assembly.

She gave a very frank, open and honest accounting of her opinions on things that needed to be done in the State of New York.  She also showed a wide depth of local knowledge and an understanding of the limits of what a State Assemblyperson can do.  It’s no wonder that she is endorsed by three parties (the Conservative Party, the Independence Party, and the Republican Party) she knows her stuff.

It was refreshing to know that there are conservative candidates making their way up the political food chain.  If you listen to the podcast, no doubt you will be engergized to find out more so here is her campaign website, just follow the url: http://www.electbanksdahlke.com/index.php

McCain calls Obama out over his Messianic Image in new Web Video

Got to love this new web-ad by the McCain folks, it plays right into the current storm of pointing out Obama’s self aggrandizing.  Well here is the Video watch for yourself.

Creatively Anti-Obama

leave a comment »

Here is a highlight of the recent and creative Anti-Obama content that is running around.  The first one is the brilliant article by Gerard Baker that flushes out the Messianic under current that accompanies Obama. Dramatic reading by Gerard Baker himself.

Then there is the Celebrity Quiz which pits quotes from Obama and quotes from Celebrities against each other in a game of Who Said It?

Finally, in parody of FaceBook, we have the BarackBook which uses social networking to show the potentially harmful connections between Obama and controversial figures.

I gotta say this is my favorite part of presidential politics.  When each side starts creating interesting ways to poke fun at each others weaknesses (one reason why I love SNL during the presidential election).  I don’t mind when they go negative, so long as they do it in a fun and creative way.  Otherwise, it just looks old and tired, and who wants that?

Update: Democrats for McCain in Second Life

leave a comment »

Alright I cheated, I popped in and had a look around during their meeting.  What can I say, I was curious and really wanted to know how much interest Democrats had in McCain.  I couldn’t vouch for the orthodoxy of the democrats in attendance, because I was called away before I had the chance to read the conversations that were going on, but the group itself was a healthy size.  I counted 13 avatars other than myself, which for Second Life is more people than I expected to attend.  Later, about 15 minutes after the meeting was supposed to end, I got a group notice saying the meeting was still going on.  So obviously this group had a lot to discuss.

The idea that a meeting being organized around the concept of Democrats that are either open to supporting McCain or will support McCain really lifts my spirits.  Considering Democrats have more registered voters, I was getting kinda worried that Obama mania would sweep all in its path.  Apparently there are a few Democrats who haven’t bought into the hype, which gives me hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Democrats for McCain in Second Life?

leave a comment »

Though I have seen one such tag over an avatars name I didn’t think the movement was generating much excitement.  Apparently the folks at the Straight Talk Express in Second Life think differently as they have just announced a meeting tonight at 7pm PST for only Democrats and Independents who are either supporters of, or at least interested in, McCain.  I have no idea how this one will end up, since I am an obvious Republican in SL I won’t be attending, but I would be interested to hear back from anyone who attended either by comment or my email.  If you would like to attend this event and are of the Democrat or Independent persuasion then you will want to follow this SLurl (  http://slurl.com/secondlife/Moloch/74/57/25/?title=Straight%20Talk%20Cafe ) to be transported to the event location.

Fighting AIDS in other countries will cost us 48 Billion Dollars

with one comment

A bill called H.R. 5501 has just been approved that will send 48 billion dollars to third world countries to help them treat AIDS and  the secondary infections of Tuberculosis and Malaria that end up killing a large percentage of African AIDS sufferers.   With only 36.1 million  people on earth infected with HIV the amount seems too high to waste on treating people.  It is a cost of $1,329.63 per  person infected with HIV, even more money per person if you factor out the US citizens who suffer from HIV, because they won’t see any of this money or the support this money funds.

It seems to me that this money would have benifited the world more if we would have invested the 48 billion dollars in a cure for HIV/AIDS rather than prolonging the suffering of people in the third world.  Sure that would take longer for results, but  an end to the disease would save more lives in the end.

Also, in case you didn’t notice Congress tacked on an additional 2 Billion for an American Indian Safety and Health Fund.  Not that I care that they  want to help American Indians, but don’t you think they could have made a seperate bill?  Heck, wouldn’t it be better to give them the AIDS money to fix their land, before we try to fix the world?

Republican Happenings in Second Life: Weekend Edition

leave a comment »

Looks  like there will be two talkshows (both will be recorded live and made into podcasts) going on this weekend at the Republican Amphitheater.  One on Saturday called Conservative Matters and the other on Sunday called East Coast Conservative.  To attend either show please download the Second Life viewer HERE then follow the SLurl (a link that you click on the internet that teleports you to where you would like to go inside of Second Life)  http://slurl.com/secondlife/Keen/128/115/22/?title=Republican%20Amphitheater

This is where Conservative Matters and East Coast Conservative are broadcast inside Second Life

Saturday’s epidsode of Conservative Matters begins at 7pm PST and is tentively titled: Hatred Of America – A discussion of how liberals hypocritically claim to love their own country, and yet are seething with hatred for its history, traditions, and culture.  I am sure the liberals in attendance will love this one.  Should be a lively question and answer session for host Ron Skytower.

Sunday is the live simulcast of East Coast Conservative at 5:30pm PST.  I’m not sure what the Hatton and Ken have in store for us this weekend, but as always it will be a mix of their commentary on the news and their humor.

As always, all views are welcome because they help real debate and exchange of ideas happen.  That being said, no personal attacks.  Instead argue against the idea the person holds, they might just be misinformed.

New Republican Toolbar that Generates Donations

with one comment

Just got the email about the new GOP.com Toolbar that allows users to generate donations to the Republican Party by just searching the internet.  In a quick trial, I searched three times and it showed that I had generated seven cents.  Now, that isn’t alot of money but it didn’t take much effort on my part.  All I had to do was download the Toolbar from HERE and fill out the Registration form.  Seems like it would be a great way to generate funds on a large scale.  Just imagine if 1 million people signed up and generated an average of 5 cents each, that would be 50,000 dollars raised with very little invested in time.  Good job GOP.com, its been awhile sense you have surprised me.  Keep it up!
